About A. Keith Carreiro
Keith Carreiro has helped reach an
unprecedented level of outreach and consensus building with Swansea town
officials and other educational institutions, such as Bristol Community
College, in order to achieve the educational mission of the Swansea School
District. He continues to serve Swansea and our surrounding communities as
an advocate for educational excellence by reaching out to local and state
congressional representatives and state agencies. He has provided critical
oversight and assistance in seeing that the town's educational mission is
fulfilled and that the delivery of instruction centers upon what is best for
students, parents, teachers and citizens.
Keith teaches at the BCC Attleboro [BCC/A] Learning Center as an adjunct
faculty member, where he teaches courses in English, film, the humanities
and philosophy. He is also one of three tutors serving the writing needs of
the BCC/A faculty and students, as well as working as a part–time academic
counselor there. In addition, Keith teaches as a Visiting Lecturer in the
English Department at Bridgewater State University.
Keith Carreiro has been teaching for forty years, and he is adept at all
levels of educational practice. Within the field of education, he
specializes in helping students, teachers and educational practitioners
attain their academic goals and in facilitating their intellectual and
professional development. His research work on creativity and critical
thinking has received local, regional, national and international attention.
He is married to Carolyn Ann Carreiro. Carolyn is a singer, songwriter and a
visual artist, specializing in pastels. Together, they have played and
performed their music throughout the United States. They have had the great
fortune to raise six children, and are now having the luxury of spoiling
eight grandchildren. The Carreiros are owned by one cat, two Maltese and one
golden retriever.
